(Booth Talk from SC20)
In this talk, we report on our work-in-progress on the spike sorting project which aims to address how neural circuits underline behavior is routinely done by measuring electrical activity from neurons. The Research Software Engineering team at the FAS Research Computing department has been working on refactoring a current software for the spike sorting to improve accuracy and scale the computation on the cloud. The novel data acquisition system yields about one terabyte of data for each subject every day, and novel data analysis techniques are employed to find each neuron's neural activity in the recording region on the brain.
